The
rules of Consume and Forfeit
Over the years I have referenced
this game several times and I occasionally get a random
email asking me how to play. Now for the first time ever
on Pat’s Place I give you the rules to my favorite
drinking game Consume and Forfeit,
Consume and Forfeit is a variation on the dice game Three
Man. To play you will need two six sided dice, a rolling
surface (usually a wash cloth or similar sized piece of
fabric), and an ample supply of alcohol.
Pregame: All players fill a cup with alcohol (beer is recommended
for the sake of longer games). The players the roll the
die until someone gets a combo of a one and a two. This
person in now the three man until someone rolls the same
combo during the course of the game.
Game: The game is based mostly on dice rolls. If a player
rolls his dice off of the approved rolling surface he is
guilty of sloppy dice and must consume his drink and forfeit
the dice to the next player, hence the name of the game.
The numbers that are rolled determines drinking.
If a three is comes up on the dice, with the exception of
a one and a two which is covered in the Pregame section,
the three man must take a drink.
If a seven is rolled the player to the left of the roller
drinks
If an eleven is rolled the player to the right of the roller
drinks.
If a ten is rolled everyone drinks a communal drink.
If doubles are thrown the roller has several options. He
may assign any player the number of drinks shown on the
dice. He may assign two players the dice and have each drink
the number of drinks shown. He may also force one player
to roll for number of drinks with both dice or two players
each to roll a de to determine the number of drinks. Alternately
a second count can be given rather than number of drinks.
If a nine is rolled it is Quizmaster time. The roller may
ask any player a question. If the player answers the roller
must consume and forfeit. If the player fails to answer
the roller continues his turn. The question must be common
knowledge, meaning that at least one person at the table
besides the roller knows the answer. Alternately Trivial
Pursuit cards may be used but this is not recommended.
If a player rolls a number that is not listed above it is
considered piffle. The player may choose to pass the dice
to the next player or take a second chance. If the second
chance fails the player consumes and forfeits.
After five rolls that successfully for another player to
drink the roller may make a rule and then the dice are passed
to the next player.
